(( Hey guys, sorry this is so sudden, but I think I’m gonna leave the group.

I’m just really bad at keeping motivated for roleplaying, and I don’t want to drag anybody down with my inactivity. I really had a lot of fun while it lasted, but with my motivation constantly plummeting I don’t think I can keep up.

Thanks for the awesome time, guys. <3 <3 <3 ))

@Hongou

“Ah, yes… that would be helpful,” Hongou replied as nonchalantly as he could, avoiding the man’s gaze. A plumbing company... who works for a plumbing company…? Hongou didn’t have many friends, but he did know many people. And throughout his fifty years, he would have had to met a plumber at one point or another. Idly, he replied, “Sure, that works. But what is it you would like to talk about?” He was lost; until he knew this person’s identity, he hadn’t a clue how to speak to him.

“Pete’s Plumbing and Heating,” Seven said, reaching down to grab his toolbox. “It’s sort of a small company, so I dunno if you’ve heard of it before.” With a grunt, he hefted the box back up and started walking at a slow pace.

“…to be honest,” he said, shrugging slightly, “I don’t really know. I just sort of called out to you on a whim.” He turned towards Hongou and grinned. “You’re not one for small talk, are you, gramps?”

“Gramps?!” Hongou snapped, narrowing his eyes. “I’ll thank you not to call me that.” Lowering his voice, he added, “I’ve never heard of that company. Tell me… where have we met? My, ah, memory is growing fuzzy in my old age.” Was that a legitimate excuse? Well, it was at least something.

Seven couldn’t help but chuckle a little at Hongou’s reaction. “Still sensitive about your age, huh?” he asked, deciding he wanted to milk this for all it was worth. If he couldn’t get Ace behind bars, then he would poke fun at him until he felt better.

Somehow, as he made this decision, he began to feel like Lotus.

He was about to throw another jape when the other man spoke again. What he said gave Seven pause; surely he wasn’t old enough to forget that, was he?

“…are you kidding, man? Or is this some sort of cruel prank to —”

…oh, crap.

He’d completely forgotten about Hongou’s condition, and the sudden realization that Hongou probably didn’t recognize who he was made him stop in his tracks. Man, I’m really stupid, aren’t I…

Hongou visibly flinched at the accusation. It wasn’t a prank - how could he explain that he honestly didn’t know who the man was? He tried with great lengths to avoid outright saying that, but… what else was there to say?

But the man had stopped in his sentence, and something seemed to dawn on him. But what? Carefully, Hongou asked, “Y…yes?”

“A-ah…” Seven mentally floundered around for something to say, aware of the awkward situation he was in. Without thinking, he turned his head away from Hongou and rubbed the back of his neck — a habit he’d developed somewhat recently.

Was he supposed to just up and say that he was Seven, and apologize for forgetting about Hongou’s prosopagnosia? Or should he answer the older man’s question and mention the Nonary Game?

Either way it would be awkward, but even a mentally dim man like himself could tell that the second option was just cruel.

“…s-sorry,” he began, glancing at Hongou from the corner of his eye. “I’d forgotten you had prosopagnosia.”

“You… you forgot!?” So, it was someone who knew about his disorder, after all… It wasn’t a stranger whom he’d met when he was younger. So this person was one of the few that knew his prosopagnosia. That class of people included the Nonary Game players, as well as his brothers. He knew that Kenji and Saburo would never call him by his last name, so that left…

“Are you… the detective?” He guessed. No one else would be that large, and if he remembered correctly, Seven also had some scars on his face. Everything was coming together now.

Seven grinned, somewhat sheepishly. “Yeah,” he said, with a small nod. “Sorry ‘bout that. I thought you’d known who I was from the get-go.”

He fought the sudden urge to pull his cap over his eyes. He felt pretty damn stupid for forgetting something so… unforgettable? Significant? Something like that. It was like forgetting that Light was blind, or something like that.

“So… is that why you sort of just ran away when I called out to you?” he asked. “Uh, well, not really ran away, but… you know what I mean.”

[Gentarou continues to stare at the larger child, but squeaks out,] “Y…you’re scary.”

“S-scary?”

Not this again. Seven looks down at himself with a slight frown. He doesn’t think he looks scary, and his mom had told him the same thing. So why does everybody think differently?

“I’m not scary,” he grumbles, and looks back up at the other boy. “Ma says I’m not.”

“Oh… your Mom…?” Gentarou blinks, thinking about his own parents, who are nowhere to be seen.

“My Mom calls me scary sometimes… or something like that.” He shrugs. “You don’t seem that scary, actually.”

“Yeah,” Seven says, scratching at the back of his head. “And Ma knows everything, I think.”

He wonders if there’s anything more to say to the other boy, until he speaks again. What he says confuses Seven. “Why would she say you’re scary?” he asks, genuinely curious. “And uh, thanks… I guess.”

He takes the compliment with a grain of salt. Didn’t he just call Seven scary a moment ago?

(( I should probably hurry up and make an actual name for Seven sometime soon oh well ))

From the corner of his eye, Seven sees another child barely visible from where he is hiding. From the looks of it, the other boy is staring at him… why?

“What?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
